America Now With Andy Dean Welcomes Donald Trump

LOS ANGELES, August 11, 2011 – America Now with Andy Dean, which launched into syndication this week on more than 30 stations nationwide, welcomed special guest Donald Trump on air on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Dean, who served as President of Donald Trump Productions for six years, in addition to being a contestant on season two of Trump’s hit NBC program The Apprentice, spoke to his former boss about 2012 politics and rumors that he may run for President of the United States.

Below are some highlights from the interview. To hear the interview in its entirety, please click here

DEAN: “Do you see any Republican candidate defeating Obama?”
TRUMP: “Without even going through the field, Andy, I think Obama is very beatable. I think his presidency has been a total catastrophe, it’s been a disaster…”

DEAN: “There’s a rumor that you may announce your candidacy for President of the United States as an Independent – right now, on my show. Is there any truth to that rumor?”
TRUMP: “There’s no truth to that whatsoever, but we’ll see what happens. I have a big show coming up, and I’m not allowed, as you know better than anybody, I’m not allowed to do anything during the course of that show. But that will end at the end of May and I’m allowed to do whatever I want to do after that, so we’ll see. Look, if the Republicans pick the right person, I’ll be very happy. If they pick the wrong person and the economy continues to be bad, I may surprise a lot of people…”

DEAN: “We’ll be waiting until May 2012 to see if you announce your run as an Independent for President of the United States. I think it could be a very compelling candidacy…”
TRUMP: “We have a lot of fun, but much more importantly than fun, I love this country. I hate what’s happening to this country, and I’m really glad you’re doing what you’re doing, Andy, because you’re really coming at it with the correct viewpoint. And you’re going to have a big audience, and you’re going to be a big success, and I’m going to be proud of you, and you better remember Donald Trump.”
